Eco-friendly Plastic Road

The headline of this article must have put you in a dilemma that what I am talking about. Whenever ordinary people talk about road construction in term of concrete or dammar which one we use to go from one place to another by bike, bus or own vehicle.

The Man Behind
A chemistry professor, Mr. Vasudevan, at Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai discovers a new technology where he partially used plastic to bitumen technology. These plastics are collected from water bottles, chips wrapper and daily thrown out to the garbage. India produces 15000 tons of plastic garbage daily and it a way out to recycle waste plastic material. The patent of this technology was registered in the name of the college. Mode of the contracting road can be called Plastic-aggregate-bitumen Technology.
Recently, the same technology has been by Jamshedpur Utility and Services Company (JUSCO) to build new roads and widening existing road in Jamshedpur.

Advantage
·         The 15% plastic of the total material which is cheaper than the rest raw material. Which makes the whole infrastructure project cheaper.
·         Not much maintenance with higher longevity.
·         No need of additional technical knowledge or any large investment.
·         Reuse of nonrecyclable (Almost impossible) and unwanted resource.
·         Water resistant, proper binding, Higher softening point.
·         Bearable high temperature and pressure.
·         No toxic revelation.
·         Most important, eco-friendly.

Unseen Benefits

If this technology we use in major road construction then spread out thrash around garbage bin will be vanished and the place will be cleaner which prevent the population from disease.  Cost of scientific recycling will be saved. Open blaze to plastic which emits various dangerous hydrocarbon gases will vanish.
